The Youth Excellence Society (The YES) is a charitable, non-partisan organization, part of the BC Cooperative Society that provides leadership training to British Columbia’s youth.
Each year The YES runs week-long leadership camps, which focus on self-awareness, communications skills, co-operation and leadership. For over 25 years, The YES has provided a unique learning experience for over 8,000 young people.
I have worked with The YES since 2004 and was tasked with completely overhauling the brand. This was my first real experience of working with a non profit and considering the budget limitations and committee approach to decision making I am pleased with the results. The name was changed, we developed new advertising and a total revamp of their online presence including the production of a custom web based camp booking system.
I don’t think the world of non profits is for me but an interesting project and learning experience non the less.
