I was an Account Director for an Ad Agency in London and one of our main Clients was Andrex. Andrex is the leading toilet tissue brand and one of the biggest FMCG brands in the UK and has been using memorable advertising featuring the Andrex puppy for a generation. Leveraging one of the most instantly recognised advertising icons in the UK, I was part of the team that devised a unique promotional campaign, world famous author Gerald Durrell was commissioned to write, for the first time, a series of story books featuring the Andrex puppy.
Andrex customers who purchased product could collect tokens and redeem the tokens for these collectible books at Esso Gas Stations. In addition, lucky customers also had the chance to either have their mortgage paid for a year or paid completely.
The promotion was hugely successful and 10’s of thousands of books were redeemed.
