Your original comment did read like  a knock against Canadians. I think it's trying to do a comparison where things get hung up.  Best to avoid comparing and just point out the virtues of each.  It's a bit like slagging the competition in sales.  Never looks good, only looks insecure.

If I was listing Canadian virtues I wouldn't have 'determination to be the best they can be' anywhere as that would be too elitist wouldn't it?!</description>
