Tim Berners - Lee on DRM

If you’ve read any of my previous posts you’ll know that I hate DRM particularly as it relates to music files that have been legitimaely purchased. The French have fuelled this debate recently by stating that Apple should make it’s software i.e. iTunes and music purchased from iTunes music store compatible with other software and music purchased from other vendors.

Cue wailing and nashing of teeth from the labels (de ja vu anyone) and from Apple aka Steve Jobs who accused the French of state supported piracy (yawn). So when I stumbled across an interesting observation from Tim Berners - Lee (the guy who made the internet work so has some credibility) I thought it was worth a read - here’s what T B-L has to say on using DRM type techniques in order to restrict use and access here.
