In the beginning…..
People who know me realize that I am a keen advocate of technology and the role it can play in enhancing the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. I like to dabble a bit in trying to spot new and emerging technologies that can allow my Clients to achieve competitive advantage and get their message out.
It can be a bit of a frustrating crusade particularly in Canada where as a displaced Brit it tends to take a lot to get my fellow marketers to see beyond the 30 second spot or traditional media buy. It would be nice to see a bit of genuine passion and enthusiasm for anything other than TV, I can say that as somebody who has produced many TV commercials and TV series. So it looks like this blog can be my mouthpiece for all the stuff I think is cool and interesting and potentially the stuff that is busted and needs fixing.
So I am feeling particularly warm and frothy about podcasting right now, coming from the entertainment world it seems a really potent way of distributing content and engaging people. From a marketing perspective it has some pretty big potential something I hope to develop with some Clients in the near future.
So for the time being my top podcast has to be Ricky Gervais (creator of The Office) which is available on iTunes and is frankly mad, British and hilarious. For some other nuggets check out Spin Magazine, Newsweek and the New York Times oh and if you need something more local big Kev Newman from Global National is available for free download from iTunes here.
And if you feel like making a buck perhaps you need to understand the potential revenue model that podcasting represents.
