BBH launch virtual agency
Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) a UK advertising agency have launched a virtual agency within Second Life. Second Life is an amazing and growing 3D online virtual reality world, not sure what it is then check out this useful video intro from PR Agency Text 100. Adidas opened a virtual store in September and joined American Apparel in trying to leverage this world
In Second Life, which has both gaming and commerce, subscribers are identified by their avatar, in keeping with Second Life BBHs’ virtual agency will be manned by the avatars of employees, including John Hegary, who is the company’Â’s chairman. According to the company it has done this in order to expand its understanding of the digital world and social networking communities. Second Life is rapidly growing and now has 793,000 subscribers.
It will be interesting to see whether a conservative mainstream ad agency can get to grips with what makes Second Life so compelling. Or whether this is simply a good way to get some press coverage for an agency that peaked creatively in the 90’s.
