Ladies and gentlemen – Grand Theft Auto IV

Billed as the first ‘true sequel’ since GTA III way back in 2001, this simultaneous release on PS3 and Xbox 360 uses the same breathtaking graphics engine found in Rockstar’s Table Tennis – so expect plenty of unnerving facial expressions and clothing floating in the breeze.

It looks likely to have an American setting and will have downloadable episodes for Xbox 360, and possibly PS3. Plus it’s strongly rumoured to have online elements – not quite an MMO, but something in between.

It’s almost certainly going to be one of the biggest games of all time. So you can say goodbye to daylight, your spouse and your job and say hello to next-gen criminal chaos.

Flash is 10 years old

Can you believe it Flash is 10 years old.
Remember back to the late 90’s all those ecommerce sites spending enormous sums of money creating Flash sites, flash intro’s etc but completely forgot that most people only had a dial up connection. Duh! Flash probably unwittingly played its part in the dotcom meltdown.

We have been dabbling with Second Life for a while now and are happy to announce that we have pumped up our avatar, dressed him reasonably stylishly and are ready to hang out with our friends at Second Life.
If you happen to be in world and want to hang out we go by the name of Erik Ida.

Final thoughts on Microsoft’s Zune Music Player

Oh dear it would seem that the world might not be ready for Brown Zune players, clunky software, DRM that ties your music in knots and the prospect of ’squirting’ tracks to other Zune players.

Despite Microsoft’s assertion that everything is on track for a million units sold the jury is in and well the reviews are mostly lousy. Most of the complaints are directed at Microsoft’s arrogance at once again launching a consumer product that is full of bugs and unfinished.

Although Macworld could be viewed as being biased I have been impressed with their attempt to at least try and be a bit objective read their final thoughts on the Zune here.

Nintendo’s Wii a winner

Nintendo launched their new console the Wii on Nov 19th and it appears they have a winner on their hands. The vast majority of reviews have been positive praising the innovation that Nintendo constantly strives for. Current estimation is that Nintendo have shifted 600,000 units so far and demand is red hot read more here.

Although the Wii doesn’t offer the sheer power of the 360 or PS3 it offers a cost effective and fun alternative to the behemoths from Sony and Microsoft. Lots of people will buy one because of the vast library of games and the price point and it will probably find a neat place as the 2nd console in many peoples houses.

How Zune can beat the iPod…maybe!

So the results are in and the vast majority of people are saying nice try Microsoft but the Zune aint no iPod killer. There are a few too many software glitch’s, probs with the Zune store and well it just isn’t as sleek.
But it appears Apple are taking Zune very seriously particularly as some much of their profit is derived from iPod sales. But does Zune have to try and out iPod iPod so to speak. Macworld has a very interesting article here arguing that Zune can be an iPod killer but in a different way.
